![]() The beauty of this pass is there are no date restrictions, so you could hypothetically ski every day this winter. The full-access Ikon Pass gives you unlimited access to 16 resorts and up to seven days at 39 additional destinations throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan and Australia. Here's a look at the four main ski passes to help you decide which one may be right for you this ski season.īy signing up, you will receive newsletters and promotional content and agree to our Terms of Use and acknowledge the data practices in our Privacy Policy. This is especially true now that several passes have options designed for those who just plan to ski for a few days. So, many snow-loving families will be better off selecting a pass rather than paying individual lift ticket prices, even if they only use it a few times. Single-day lift tickets cost more than $200 at major mountains, and annual passes start just shy of $300 for skiing throughout the whole year. Believe it or not, this often isn't true. If your family only takes one or two trips to the mountains in a season, you may reasonably think a season pass isn't for you. While many region- and mountain-specific passes are available, there are four main ski pass options for North American skiers and boarders: the Epic Pass, the Ikon Pass, the Mountain Collective and the Indy Pass. Prices have already started to rise, and they often take another jump before sales end for the season. While you may still be enjoying your leaf-peeping hikes and pumpkin spice lattes, it's time to seriously consider which ski pass to purchase if you haven't done so already. Yes, you read that right - you might not have to wait too long to strap on ski boots and hit the slopes. And the Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting a snowy winter. While resort openings obviously depend on the weather, a few mountains already saw a dusting over Labor Day weekend. Say what you would like but their decision to close in no way made them "Bank" and possibly saved our mountain towns.Believe it or not, ski season is just around the corner, and many mountain resorts are hoping they'll be able to open in the next month or two. By making the decision to close they lost ~300 MILLION and on top of that prevented 10's or even hundreds of thousands of people from travelling across the country and world to our mountain towns who can't handle an outbreak. You are saying they made bank by closing early? They closed right before spring break which is one of the biggest revenue and most profitable times of the year. The majority of the money comes from day passes, lodging, and rentals from vacationers. Season passes are only a fraction of how Vail makes their money. But at least we get $100 off next year’s $700 pass! How generous! But all they did was shut it all down and sit on the cash. We paid for operating lifts, electricity, employee wages, grooming, snow making, ski patrol, emergency services, avalanche mitigation, and other general operating costs. Do you pay your mechanic only to have him close the garage and say, “whoops”? Cuz that’s what happened. “Made” bank by selling a service then not providing it. All the while paying seasonal lift operators and maintenance crews next to nothing. It’s absolute bullshit and The CEO’s are laughing all the way to the bank.Įxcuse me for trying to recoup some of my costs from the crooks charging $200 a fucking day just to sit on a lift. ![]() ![]() If anyone wants to talk about theft, why has Vail Resorts been sued for millions over this? They stole from us by not refunding the money. Then they get to shut down, sitting on all that money we gave them while they skirt their operating costs for the best part of the remaining season. I went 5 half days early season just for something to do and that’s supposed to count for a full season? Vail resorts is banking so hard off this. We bought season passes. I normally start going hard in the spring. If I had a pass code for them that I could pass around I sure would do it. They wouldn't lose a dime honoring those passes anytime next season (which other resorts are doing), because I sure won't buy any more passes from them. Woopdee do! I typically don't ski until later in the season when the coverage and snow is better. They said the days are good next year until December 18. We got a ton of snow and literally the day I was planning to start going they closed down (before any regulations stated they needed to).
